Sleek 'Matte Me' Liquid Lipsticks | Drugstore Budget for High End Dupe.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

Yo my little friends.

Welcome back to another blog post at the end of another week.

I don't actually think we have had a Summer this year, all it's done is rain. I mean I have a freaking candle on in my room beside me and a hot water bottle. Although I must admit I am actually feeling pretty hot right now.

I am currently watching Tudors as I am running out of things to watch on Netflix. Jonathan Rhys Meyers though...

*Insert love heart*

He is a beautiful creature.

I really need to curb my makeup spending you know because I need to get through what I have, plus my savings are seriously draining because of the bills coming out.

Right now, I am not loving life.

What I am currently loving though is Sleek.

You can find them in Superdrug and now in Boots stores. They have so many wonderful pieces, I especially love their liners which can used both on the eyes and lips and come in some super cool shades.

I have always walked past their counters and have been highly interested in their 'Matte Me' liquid lipstick range. Previously I haven't invested because I am not a fan of liquid lipsticks.

The reason being is that I over draw my top lip to equal out my bottom lip and if I am honest, I am sick of doing so.

I am seriously considering getting my lips done. For me my mouth is my least favourite feature.

I couldn't resist no more and I really wanted to get their shade 'Shabby Chic' but it was sold out everywhere by me. I had to actually travel around 80 miles to get this lipstick.

Dedication.

Again, I will be honest, I didn't have high hopes for this product as I am really fussy when it comes to what formula I put on my lips.

The packaging is pretty simple, it's in a see-through, oblong, glass like tube with matte lettering and matte screw on lid.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

It is priced at £4.99 which is a complete steal as you get a lot of product and it doesn't look cheap at all.

The colour 'Shabby Chic' is very similar to Kylie Cosmetics 'Posie K' which is a muted, opaque, and mauve shade.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

I don't own Kylie's kits but I have seen a lot of people wearing this shade and for me 'Shabby Chic' is a complete dupe for a fraction of the price.

The applicator is a flat doe-foot, which I am actually fond of, it makes it easy to line the lips and gives an even finish to the product on the lips also.

The consistency of the product is pretty thick but it doesn't apply that way, it applies so even and true to colour.

It's super pigmented and you don't get any blotches when drying.

Speaking of drying, it dries in quick time and dries really matte.

I am truly impressed with this product, it feels amazing when applying on the lips, it's so soft and velvety and is does what it says on the tin.

I loved it that much I went out and bought their shade 'Birthday Suit'. This one again I feel is a dupe for Kylie Jenner's 'Candy K'.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

This shade is more of a nude compared to 'Shabby Chic' with a more brown/pink undertone, not as mauve as the other.

I am so in love with these I want them all. I love Sleek as a brand and feel that their prices are super fair for the quality of their products. They are really well made and presented to a high standard.

There's a lot of their range that I want but I will have to wait until some miracle happens and I get a job. Ha.

As said previously, photographing my mouth isn't one of my favourites because they are constantly dry and not in the best condition. Ha.

The photo's above are with one coat, not bad I say.

They are totally buildable but once a few layers are on, the matte feeling is quite apparent and it can feel a little dry.

Typical of a matte product anyway. Nothing different.

All in all, you NEED to get these liquid lipsticks if you haven't already. They are freaking awesome!!!

Drugstore Matte Lip Products | Primark, Maybelline & Bourjois

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

Evening guys.

I hope you're all well?

I am good apart from the fact I have THE WORST hay fever ever and I am not even joking right now. My eyes are THAT sore, itchy, bloodshot and swollen I just want to rip my face off.

Nothing is dealing with the fact that my little peepers are looking like freaking kebabs right now.

I JUST WANT TO WEAR MY MAKEUP!!!

Just imagine having a squad of fleas in your eyes and then someone suddenly lights a flame to burn those suckers out and then your eyes are on fire.

Yeah that.

Yesterday, I hit Twitter up with one of my many tweets and asked you guys what you wanted to see again for tonight's post.

So again, by popular demand here is the post you most wanted to see.

It's no secret that I am a fan of matte lip products. More so because I over draw my top lip which I really dislike doing. I JUST WANT BIG LIPS MAAYYYNNN!! I am thinking about trying those Full Lip Enhancer lip sucky things but I am scared that I will end up looking look those fools on YouTube whos lips then engulf their face.

*oh the shame*

Or, I would actually like my top lip done to even it out but Papa Hutt would actually do his nut if I ever did that.

He would go all Jackie Chan on ma ass!!

I did a recent post on my MAC matte lipstick and liner collection but lets face it, they aren't the cheapest of products and there are plenty of drugstore beauties that do just the same thing... If not better, for a fraction of the price.

You feeling me?

I can hear your purses singing a song of praise at me right now.

You're welcome.

So here you go, you asked for it... Drugstore matte lip products that really do make the grade.

I cannot remember when I first saw these but I think I may have noticed them in Superdrug and swatched them there and then. I really liked the formula and the colour pay off was pretty true to the packaging colour label itself.

These are Maybelline's Colour Sensation Matte and were new in at the time.

The burgundy shade is pretty close to MAC's 'Diva' but at a kinder price. I always find though that burgundy shades are never as matte as they could be.

Sort it out guys!!

These glide on really nicely and are not drying at all. Again the colour pay off is pretty good, strong in composition and easy to apply.

Superdrug currently have a 3 for 2 across makeup, nails and lashes at the moment, so if you like these three shades then go and grab them. They have a couple more but these caught my eye the most.

These are just gorgeous, it's just like applying velvet to your lips!!!

Heaven on a wand.

These Bourjois Velvet Editions are a liquid lipstick and for a drugstore brand they are pretty high on my list for a few reasons.

The colour is buildable, which for me is a must as you can go low key or in your face 'WOW'. They apply like a dream and they last all freaking day without the need to reapply.

They can be a little tricky to go round your lip line neatly so what I tend to do is get my lip brush and outline with the product, then fill in with the wand.

They dry matte but they aren't drying in the slightest. I did have a forth one somewhere but I cannot for the life of me work out where I have put it.

Typical me.

These are by far my favourite out of the bunch and the cheapest too. Wahey!!

Primark have not failed me in the lip department at all.

Seriously guys, if you haven't yet tried their lip liners or matte lip crayons, where the hell have you been? You are SERIOUSLY missing out.

They are ahhhhhmazzinnngg!!

I have found the perfect dupe for MAC's 'Honeylove' in their 'Nude' matte lip crayon.

The thing is the Primark where I live never has up to date products so I was actually shocked that they had these in.

The crayons are £2 and the liners are £1 and they last for fricking ages!!!

The apply matte, but have a super nice formula and the liners don't drag which lets be honest is a god damn bitch when that happens. Goodbye neat and perfect line. Ha.

10/10 for me on these and they come in a range of colours.

All of these lip products are great and aren't hyper drying either which is great for me at the moment due to the state of my lips!!

Oh, if anyone has a solution to stop my lips drying out that would be great! *Thumbs up*.

Thanks for reading lovelies, all of the products are currently in store so let me know what you think if you purchase anything.

Shameless plug alert.

If you like my blog I would love a weeeeeeennnny follow here

:)

Until next time...

Love

M.A.C Ruby Woo Review // First Impressions!!!

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

YOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Again it has been a while since I last posted something. I really need to schedule some time in to write again regularly. I am so lazy sometimes. But today I am back with a little ol' review :)

I received my first ever Mac product on Christmas Day. I did put this on my 'most wanted list' and gratefully my parents got it me.

This was the Mac Retro Matte Lipstick in 'Ruby Woo'. It was all beautifully wrapped and placed actually on my Christmas tree with a bow on it and I instantly knew what it was as it was so cute and small.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

Now, I am a little bit of a hoarder when it comes to new things. I have mentioned this fact before and it's nothing new to me, so it will be no surprise that I have ONLY JUST opened this lipstick.

I love things when they are in their 'new' state and because I have never had a Mac product before I really didn't want to ruin the state of this beautiful product.

Okay, so my first impressions when opening this product was "wow". I loved the bullet style packaging, I also loved the simplicity of the brand itself. It stands out and looks classy without even trying.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

The first thing that I noticed about this lipstick upon opening it was the smell!!! OH-MY-GOD, it smells AMAZING!!! No joke, to me it literally smells like cakes. It has this subtle sweet/cakey scent that really makes me want to eat it. I never really say that about a product, especially a lip item as usually they smell and taste like plastic. Like you know it's come from a factory.

This lippy smells like heaven, if heaven was to smell like anything it would be this. Period.

Aside from the mouth-watering smell the colour of this lipstick is flat out gorgeous. It is so pigmented and vibrant and such a classic 60's style 'red'. I  LOVE a red lipstick especially as I am a pale face (no not a vampire) it really stands out on me. It is super retro in style and how the colour looks in its formed self reflects perfectly on your lips.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

Now I will only wear a matte consistency lipstick as I dislike any kind of sheen or gloss, the reason being as I like to slightly over draw my top lip so it is consistent with my bottom lip. I have been reaching more to lipliner's recently to fill in my lips (especially the Rimmel Red Diva and Cappuccino) but with 'Ruby Woo' being a Matte in my head I knew I would love it.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

So I have come to the conclusion that is smells awesome and looks beautiful but what is is going to be like to wear?

As soon as I popped this bad boy on I noticed straight away how matte this lipstick actually is. I didn't realise until today that this is the mattest (is that even a word?) of matte's that Mac do, they have a normal matte finish and then 'retro matte'. I though it just said 'retro' because of the type of colour, but nope this is a hell of a dry lipstick. I first used this with my Rimmel 'Red Diva' lipliner but only outlined my lips with it and then filled them in with Ruby Woo. Within seconds of applying I noticed straight away how uncomfortable my mouth felt. The only way I could describe it is that it felt like I had eaten a doughnut and wasn't able to lick my lips, either that or it felt like I had face planted a pile of sand. It does feel gross to wear, I am not going to beat around the bush, it's not enjoyable at all.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

I also found that it wore off quicker than I thought so when you go to re-apply a layer to build the colour back up it really intensified in dryness and created a horrible 'ring of death' around my mouth. I hate that. It also crumbled around the lipliner and left little white streaks and dots where the product has come off, that has never happened to me before.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

This really annoyed me as I have longed for Mac products for years but always thought they were expensive, so I kind of had high hopes for this but I was seriously let down by the formula. However now I know 'retro' is really dry I am hoping the normal matte shades would be way better. It has up until now put me off purchasing any more lip products from them but with this new information I think I may give it a whirl. I really want to try out the 'Burgundy'lip liner and 'Diva' lipstick and I also really want 'Velvet Teddy' but it's always sold out.

The plus side to this product is (that is if you can handle the intense dry mouth) is that the lipstick looks frickin awesome on, like I said it's highly pigmented and if you are feeling really crap one day, put this on and you will feel like a god damn 60's pin up.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

Okay, maybe I wouldn't go that far but it does make you feel fabulous!! For it to really stand out though I would suggest keeping your eye makeup very miminal, either a bit of mascara and leave it like that or with a small cat flick on your upper lid.

Let your mouth do the talking. :)

I hope that this little review has helped you make a decision on whether to buy this lipstick or not and if any of you readers have any tips or even comments about what you have thought of Ruby Woo let me know.
