Evening lovelies :)
Who's been loving this heatwave in the UK?
Not me, that's fo'so!! I cannot stand the hot weather, I am constantly in black clothing and don't really wear Summer dresses so I just end up sweating my arse off!!
I love to layer my clothes and wear dark colours. I use my makeup to add the colour... I am not that Emo. :)
Seeing as I am lits like Casper 99.9% of the year, I decided to do a golden glow look on my face to warm me up a little.
Being pale isn't always great because I tend to look like I am taking part in a horror movie, I do like to be tanned now and then. I dislike the heavy fake tan look however, we want a glow ladies not freaking Wotsits!!!
I didn't want to apply fake tan to my face because lets face it a number of things could majorly go wrong. It could be a catastrophic event! Ha ha.
I have taken my must-have/go to products (8 of them in fact) that I use to create a fake golden tan... Well without the tan involved. The products I have used are all drugstore brands which is great if you're on a budget and I feel they produce a real nice NATURAL gleaming, glow on your beautiful moon face!
Here we goooooooo....
On top of my primer I put on the Nyx 'Born To Glow' liquid illuminiator. My shade is 'Pure Gold' and I dab this around my face and blend it in with my hand first and then with a buffing brush. This is to give me a natural glow under my foundation.
My next step is to apply foundation. Now the rule to this is to actually apply a base shade that is either slightly lighter or to match your skin tone. I find that if you go lighter on the base it makes your glow a lot more natural when you build up the bronzer.
Today I am using L'Oreal's Infallible 24hr foundation in 'Ivory'. It's a matte finish foundation so if you want it more dewy I would suggest spritzing some of Mac's Fix Plus.
Okay so to achieve the 'golden glow' that's as natural looking as the sun I will lightly dust the Seventeen 'Instant Glow' Pink Rocks bronzer in the areas that the sun would naturally touch. It has a slight shimmer to it which makes the finish soft and not harsh.
I will then go in with Collection's 'Bronze Glow' powder to contour my cheekbones. They are already prominent but I just give them an extra boost and I will then blend in with a buffing brush.
For highlighter and to finish the face off I have been using The Balm's 'Mary-Lou Manizer' and it's beautiful. It has a massive highlight payoff and is really pigmented. You don't need a lot to get an amazing highlight on your face. I will highlight the top of my cheeks with this, the bridge of my nose, chin, top lip and forehead.
I will apply my Collection 'Lasting Perfection' concealer before hand on the areas that I will highlight so it's already lightened and will glow spectacularly.
On the eyes, I have been using Nyx's Tame and Frame tinted brow pomade on my brows. I am still trying to get used to that as I usually use powders.
And to give the eyes a matching look I will use Makeup Revolution's Matte shadow palette to give me a light smokey eye.
This is the finished look.
As you can see, it'a a light bronzed look that I have gone for, no orange streaks in sight. It's also light enough to wear throughout the summer as you can adapt the base from full coverage to light. It's a real versatile look that can be adapted to all skin tones, that's what is so good about it. It's a look for everyone.
Seriously, this look is easy to achieve and you just end up looking lovely and healthy. I don't get out much right now because of my hay fever so I am lacking in vitamin D big time.
This way, I am cheating my glow.
All these products you can find in Superdrug and Boots in the UK.
