10 Products That I Would Never Buy Again | Disappointing Beauty And Hair Drugstore Products I Wouldn't Recommend.

beauty blogger, recommendation, would not buy, would not recommend, fail, drugstore, beauty products, makeup, disappointing, honest,

Evening my little bees!!

How cray cray has the weather been in the UK?! It just starts to feel like Autumn and then... "Oh hello Summer again" in the next breath. It's soooo freaking humid right now, I cannot even breathe about it! We had a storm, what was it? Yesterday? And today has been so miss matched. It's giving me whiplash. Ha.

I had an interview last week and got the job this week and even though I REALLY need a job I had to turn it down. It really sucks because when I went for the interview the vibe for me, was a little bit off. I was told things that weren't in the advert which really put me off and the money was no way near what was advertised so I reluctantly had to turn it down.

I had an interview today and one tomorrow and have applied for more jobs. Come on, someone has to give me one surely? Lol.

Please send me positive thoughts! :)

So, last Friday as per, I went food shopping and went into Superdrug to pick up some bits that bigger bloggers have been raving about for a while. This story is only going to roll downhill because when I got to the till (this is the gutting part) I paid for the items with my freaking bank card and not my voucher. The girl was talking to me and I lost my train of thought and then 'BAM' it was too late and the pin had been punched. NOOOOOOOO!!!!

That really pee'd me off and literally set the tone for the products too. I picked up the wrong foundation, I was searching for my shade and ended up going to the other product without realising. I only noticed when I got home but this foundation had been raved about so much, I thought - 'it has to be good!'

It wasn't, it was awful and it was the same with the other products too. It was a bad day in makeuphood!

This is what has prompted me to do the post that I am today. Obviously we all have different views on products, products that I don't like you may love if you already have it. This is my opinion and I thought I would show you the 10 products that I wouldn't recommend buying. They have disappointed me massively, it's rare that I won't like a product but when I don't I think it should be shared, to advise others.

Lets GO!

beauty blogger, recommendation, would not buy, would not recommend, fail, drugstore, beauty products, makeup, disappointing, honest, revlon, matte balm,

These are the Revlon 'Matte Balm's' and the likes of Zoella massively recommended these. Now, silly me believed in the hype and started swatching them in store. On the back of your hand they look really good, nothing compared to how they sit on your lips. I was so disappointed as for me they were nothing like I was lead to believe. I was under the impressed that they were super matte and they really aren't, I should of worked it out myself as the word 'balm' is included. It came out a lot more sheer than expected and the colour payoff really isn't that great. I literally left them after the first try. I tried them again recently and NOPE. They don't get better. If you're looking for something super matte this isn't the one.

beauty blogger, recommendation, would not buy, would not recommend, fail, drugstore, beauty products, makeup, disappointing, honest, rimmel, wake me up,

Okay, so this is the foundation that I bought by mistake the other day, it's the Rimmel 'Wake Me Up' and I originally went for the one with the red top? I mistakenly picked this one up and thought - 'oh well, everyone raves about this, I am sure it's good'. I swear I think this is one of the worst I have tried. It is real light coverage, which I don't like as it really DID NOT cover my dark circles, it was quite thin and was a lot darker than the shade 'Ivory' suggests. It comes out on me quite uneven, it does give a nice glow which does wake the skin up but if you like a nicer coverage and have combi/dry skin this really is not worth bothering with. I cannot get on with it. I have tried layering the application too and it just looks cakey. Just no!

Another product that can't do no wrong is the Maybelline 'Fit Me' concealer. Loads of YouTuber's have said this product is "amazing" errrrr no it's not! It's more watery than the tears falling from eyes after paying for this product and realising it's awful. Ha. It creases, definitely doesn't cover dark circles at all, just seeps into them and sinks into foundation if you're using it to lighten.

See ya.

Yep, sorry NYX but you appear on this list twice. I love NYX as a brand but some of the products aren't as they seem or just fail to impress me. Their matte lip creams are no exception, okay, so I have one of them but I am in no hurry to buy anymore. I am not too keen on the formula and I find that it applies cakey on the lips and isn't consistent in its application, it goes patchy. I am not totally sold on these at all which is disappointing as I really wanted to like it.

beauty blogger, recommendation, would not buy, would not recommend, fail, drugstore, beauty products, makeup, disappointing, honest, rimmel,

Rimmell's new colour liners, it looked great when swatched,on the eyes, not so much. Maaayyynnn. The colour is okay, nothing to shout about and it rubs off the eyes quite easily as it's sitting on a base. Tried it for the first time today... I am left a little deflated!!!

beauty blogger, recommendation, would not buy, would not recommend, fail, drugstore, beauty products, makeup, disappointing, honest, nyx, vivid brights,

Oh hello NYX... We meet again!! I don't really need to say much about this as you can see for yourself what the issue is. LOOK AT IT!!! Errrr somehow I do not see the green on the packaging looking like that on my hand... I don't remember ordering Khaki guys!! Vile, bog of eternal stench colour (Labyrinth fans you will appreciate this). Don't be fooled ladies and gents!

Models own... Never really tried their products, I saw these chrome varnishes. I was seriously deceived, I thought that the varnish was going to look like the packaging. It's called 'Chrome' after all. Why wouldn't I think that? Man, these come out horribly, you can see from the pictures. The gold, maybe I could deal but the copper one isn't copper! What even is that. It's a nothing colour. £5, more like a 5p purchase!

beauty blogger, recommendation, would not buy, would not recommend, fail, drugstore, beauty products, makeup, disappointing, honest, kiko, lip scrub
beauty blogger, recommendation, would not buy, would not recommend, fail, drugstore, beauty products, makeup, disappointing, honest, kiko,

I have never been completely sold on lip scrubs, I have dry lips most days because of the matte lipsticks I wear. I picked this Kiko lip stick scrub up and it's nothing special. Just because it's in a stick doesn't make this product any better. It's an 'okay' product but not worth the price in my honest opinion. It wears down awfully quickly and I have really been using it sparingly which means it's not worth it if you want to use it often.

beauty blogger, recommendation, would not buy, would not recommend, fail, drugstore, beauty products, makeup, disappointing, honest,

Oh my goodness, I think this is THE WORST product I have ever had the displeasure of putting in my hair!! It does nothing it states on the bottle, if anything it does the opposite. It tangled my hair, didn't dry any quicker, made it feel really dry and my hair dried unevenly. I felt like I needed to re-wash my hair after this!! I 100% wouldn't recommend this. If you like the feeling of matted hair, then carry on! :)

beauty blogger, recommendation, would not buy, would not recommend, fail, drugstore, beauty products, makeup, disappointing, honest, bastiste, xxl volume spray,

Bastise, this is not the best product you have ever produced. My hair is fine but I have a lot of it and I need volume at my roots. I found this never did that for me, it made it slightly sticky, the roots proceeded to stick to my scalp and it felt really powdery. I love the rest in the range but really not a fan of this at all. It made me feel really uncomfortable all day.

Don't get me wrong, with me writing my honest opinions' about these products doesn't mean I don't love the brand and the rest of the products they produce. This post is simply to suggest what products I feel aren't at the top of their game.

Let me know if you have tried any of these products and how you feel about them. Not everyone will agree with me and that's a healthy debate!!!

Colour B4 Hair Stripper // Is It Worth It? My Review.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

I love to change my appearance, especially where my hair is concerned. I have coloured my hair for years now, never myself though as I have mainly worked in hairdressers, so I have always had it done there.

Almost two years ago I was bleached, white blonde and I have always wanted to go this colour. After having a lot of my hair cut off to go that colour I soon managed to have the shade I desired and began to grow my hair again.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk
This is what it looked like not long before I dyed it brown.

I have always had like little nightmares about going dark but one morning I just decided to do it. Now that I have been dark for almost 2 years I have decided I want a bit of a change. I want to go lighter but not as white as I went before.

Obviously I have bleach under the colour I have now as that will always stay there until it eventually grows out or I have it cut out. Having it cut out is NOT an option for me.

No way!!!

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

To get my hair remotely lighter I would need to strip the colour I have on it currently, which you can see in the above picture. I have had bleach baths done before at the hairdressers and it does damage your hair and I didn't want to stress my hair out again and risk it snapping off.

I was told about the at home stripper called 'Colour B4' which was originally created by Scott Cornwall, but he has since done another similar product and this one has been taken over by Katie Price, as the Ambassador.

The product claims to strip your hair without the use of bleach or ammonia which would damage your hair but instead shrink the hair colourant particles and they get washed out by using Colour B4, leaving your hair in its natural state.

I hesitated buying this product because I was unsure about it but because it claims to not damage your hair but take it back to the colour underneath, I thought "what do I have to lose?"

Big mistake.

I will now tell you why.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

I bought the Colour B4 in'extra strength' because that was what was needed for my hair colour and got the argon oil version as I thought it would put some nourishment back into my hair.

These are £11.99 a pop and I ended up using 3 boxes, two boxes on my first application to make sure I saturated my hair fully as it is long, and one on my second application just to get the remaining dark patches.

I had watched YouTube video's on how this applied but I went through all the instructions that came with it with a fine tooth comb to make sure I did everything right.

Before I even touched my hair with this product I did a strand test to see what colour my hair would go.

This was the result.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk
After the processing time.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk
Once dried.

This is the contents of the box.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

It came with gloves, instructions and bottles A, B and C. You then pour (A) the activator into bottle (B)the remover and shake for 30 seconds, I timed EVERYTHING to make sure it was all done properly. Part (C) is the buffer which you use in the rinsing stage at the end. Once (A) & (B) are mixed together you are good to go.

 leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

I sectioned my hair because I had a lot of it and need to make sure every strand of hair had the remover on it.

And let me tell you now, this stuff stinks. At first it smells like perm lotion which I was fine with but after a while it smelt of eggs and when it was drying to me it smelt like a 3 day old kebab. It actually made me feel sick.

Anyway, I coated all my hair in the remover and used two boxes. It was safe to say my hair was fully saturated in the stuff. I also combed it through too to make sure it was evenly distributed. I then proceeded to wrap my head in cling film so it would trap my head heat. You need to keep the product on your hair warm so it processes. I put a towel and two hats on too to make double sure it would all go smoothly. I kept mine on for 60 minutes.

Once the time was up I was a bit apprehensive to take the cling film off because I had no idea on what was underneath and if I still had hair on my head. I say this because a lot of my hair was coming out when I was combing the product through in the beginning.

I looked in the mirror and my hair was a bright copper colour all over. I was shocked it actually worked. It took the whole lot of my colour off, or so I thought!

The next step was the gruelling task of the wash off. I then had to rinse my hair for 10 minutes non stop to ensure the product had come off my hair. I then had to use the buffer (bottle C) and lather up and leave on for 1 minute, again all this was timed. I then had to rinse again for another 10 minutes and once that was done I then had to use bottle (C) again and do a normal shampoo. It didn't say to use conditioner after so I didn't. As I was washing it off I did notice my hair was progressively getting darker...Not like the copper colour it first came out like.

This is what it looked like once dried.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk
The strand test against my colour before it was stripped.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

As you can see after the first application it had lightened my root area and only slightly on my mid-length and ends. It looked like I had a reverse dip-dye colour and definitely not the outcome it looked like I was going to have when I took the cling film off.

Far from the all over copper colour it was perceived I was going to have.

I thought about it and decided that I must have had quite a bit of colour build up on the mid-length and ends so decided to get another box and re-do those parts and not touch the ends. You can re- apply up to three times in one go, or so it claims.

So a couple of days later I re-did it. This time it had lightened some more but the ends were a little darker still than the rest and it was really patchy and there were some dark parts in my root area which I couldn't explain as they weren't there before. And, I hadn't applied any colour there. I left my roots out of the second application.

When I had seen everyone's "supposed" outcomes from the product their hair is all one colour and even. Mine wasn't at all and a far cry from anything similar. I wasn't impressed but thought I'd live with it until I had it highlighted. It came out quite red/auburn and I kind of liked it.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

As you can see it went a really nice colour and I actually really liked it. It looked more even at night time but obviously in the day light you could tell it was slightly two tone. I could of lived with it though.

Now this is where it started to go wrong.

I decided to wash my hair 3 days later because it felt REALLY dry and disgusting. I wanted to wash it to make it feel like I had hair on my head and not an egg. Now this product had done some sort of damage because my hair felt so dry and a lot had snapped off.

After I had finished washing and my hair I noticed it seemed to be quite darker even when wet. I ignored it and thought it would be back to how it was before I had washed it when it was dry.

Nope.

After I had dried it this is how my colour looked.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

I mean "WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL"?

All I did was wash my hair, there was NO reason for it to go darker. I just don't understand. I followed the instructions EXACTLY, after the second application it lightened and you can see from the pictures that it had. I washed everything out and now it's significantly darker.

Why? That is what I want to know. I have not applied any colour and it can't re-oxidise from just a simple wash 3 days later. I am actually flabbergasted with the results and to be honest disgusted with the product as a whole. I have shown hairdressers' these pictures and none of them have ever seen this happen with a product before and most of them have never heard or even used Colour B4 so couldn't advise me on why this has happened.

I have emailed the company a complaint but as of yet I have heard nothing back off them.

I will be completely honest with you now, this product is complete crap and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I am aware I had a lot of colour build up and I wouldn't get all the dark colour out due to cuticle staining. But after the second application it came out a 'decent' colour even though it was patchy, I cannot for the love of God understand why on earth it would almost go back to my original dark colour just through washing my hair. I would of had to have coloured it to get it that dark again as the colour was stripped out.

I am completely baffled.

It's left my hair in horrible condition, it's thinned out a lot and now I am left with what looks like massive roots that I am going to have to have corrected professionally.

Not cool... Not cool at all.

I am actually quite annoyed about the whole thing and the fact I have wasted quite a bit of money. That is the whole reason I did a strand test, and I cut the hair where there was most colour build up and you can see from the picture's that it had lifted really well.

On their website it shows 'before and after' pictures and a lot of the people have obviously had their hair re-coloured and bleached which is not actually showing the true results a lot of the time. It's deceptive and by all means if you still want to try this product that it totally up to you, but I highly wouldn't recommend it at all. It's an awful product and not worth the risk.

If anyone reading this could explain to me why my colour darkened after washing I would love to know, or if you yourself have had a similar experience I would love to hear from you.

I hope this has helped you overall in regards of what to expect from this product and the procedure you have to endure.

MUA Luxe Matte Lip Lacquer Review // Is it all it's cracked up to be?

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

Hey guys!

Today I have decided to review a product out of the MUA Luxe Range!
They have not long brought this new range out in their collection, which you can find in Supedrug (UK) and I want to give you my honest opinion on one of their lip products.

The said product is the 'Velvet Lip Lacquer' in the colour 'Criminal'.

I find MUA as a brand can be a little hit and miss at times. Some of their products I really love, whilst others can be a little disappointing. If you don't have this makeup brand available to you across the pond, then I will give you the low down.

In short, they are a 'budget brand' a lot of their products such as the nail varnishes, eyeliners, eyebrow pencils and lipsticks are like £1 which is super cheap. And to be honest, even though their products are a steal some of them are actually really good.
How I see it, is why spend a lot of money on a high end product when a budget brand can give you the same results?
It is total logic.

Now, this new 'Luxe' range, is a little more expensive than their usual £1 bracket. And most of this range start off at £3 which is still a good deal. I have brought a couple of products from this range, one of which I am yet to try out.

The packaging is a lot more fancy and I would say kind of expensive looking. They have really put a lot of effort into the appearance of this range and I suppose that is what caught my eye. And I LOVE the frosted glass packaging the product is encased in. Very original.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

This lip lacquer comes in 9 different 'vampy' colours ranging from neutrals to popping bright's, you can see for yourself here. I couldn't decide between 'Kooky' or the 'Criminal' but went for the bright pink because I like my lip colour to stand out. The purple would just make me look like a goth, which I will repeat I am not. :)

This is what the product claims to do.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

A lot of lip products claim to do the whole "kiss proof" thaaang but very few come out of it alive. This lip lacquer however survived the test of fate. Now, when I say "survived the test" I don't mean I have been going around kissing boys, because lets be honest, I have been a lone ranger when it comes to guys for a few years. So of course I had to do the 'blotting' test on my hand for signs of transfer. Nada, zilch.

"Awesome" you say?
Not so much!

The product may not transfer easily off the mouth but it dries on horrifically!

Urrgghh, even thinking about it makes me uncomfortable, and that is the correct adjective I will use for this product. Uncomfortable.
Yes, like the company say's it "glides on effortlessly" which in fact it does. I will give it that, it is one of the best lip products I have used for that side of thing. The initial application is brilliant, but where it states that it quickly dries into the matte finish, I think that is where the problem lies.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

It dries onto your lips far too quickly leaving you with an extra dry texture, where your lips feel really tight and you end up with that annoying dried lipstick rim on the inside of your mouth.
Girls, you should know what I mean when I explain that, where you have to scrape it off with your nail (well I do anyway)and it hasn't blended in. It just dries into the ring of lipstick death.

LIKE THIS!!!

When you apply the lip lacquer initially it seems on application to glide on evenly and you think "la lala leeeelaaa" I am liking this product.

But then it dries.
And it is patchy.
And I am like "FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!"

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

I am sorry MUA but this is not I wanted as an end result. It applied thick in some places and thin in others.
This is obviously a close up and doesn't look as bad from a distance, but please, this is a tad nasty on the finale!

So basically if you are wanting a flawless looking end result from your lip lacquer, this isn't the product to go for.
It was £3, what was I expecting really?!

Ha, I will just edit the photo to show you how I kind of thought it would turn out.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk

The overall turn out isn't super bad for this product as the colour is highly pigmented and doesn't change in tone when applied. But it isn't the greatest lip lacquer I have tried to date, it makes the 'Rimmel Apocalypse' lip lacquers look amazing compared.

Oh, hello ye old dead hand...We meet again!! I am going to stop doing swatches if this is what happens every time.
I really do have normal hands with blood running through it!!
I am sorry if this swatch offends you. It does me. Ha.

Someone please enlighten me to why it does this?!

All in all, for me, it's a 'slate' not 'rate' product I am afraid. Yes it does most of the things it claims to do, but by'eck does it leave you with a gross feeling mouth, "velvety texture" nope, more of a "I need to get this off instantly" feel! Oh, and another thing, when removing it, it leaves you with a non-budge stain AND it crumbles and falls off your lips. What the?!

I am glad I didn't get another shade from this collection as it turns out this product is quite disappointing. It would be okay left on for an hour or so, but throughout the day. No way hosay.
The packaging is deceptive. It is still a cheap product!
I suppose you get what you pay for in this instance.

I don't know if any of you ladies have tried this product and liked it? But let me know what you think if you have.

I will leave you with a few 'selfie' snaps to have a look through.

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk
After the colour wore off. Not so vibrant. :(

leluroxx.blogspot.co.uk
I am loving the no eye makeup & lipstick look at the moment.
