Hair Hack | How To Get Stubborn Blue/Purple Toner/Shampoo Out Of Bleached Hair Without Damaging it | Life Saver.

 

Yo! Welcome to 2021... Level 100 of the Jumanji game. Lol. 

I am writing this just as we are potentially going into ANOTHER freakin' lockdown. Our pal Bozza sure likes to play risky little games now doesn't he. Yawwwwwnnn. 

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Year's even though it was eerily different this year, it just wasn't the same. I miss going out to bars, dancing and having meals out. I miss having family and friends over. This new 'norm' sucks serious a hole!!!

So just before Christmas I decided I was hella bored with my hair, it was really long but the ends were so wispy and dead and the blonde colour I had was outgrown and just plain boring for me. 

I was debating for ages whether to go blonder or dark, I was bored of the blonde and I decided to go dark. THEN... On the night before actually getting it done I decided to change up the whole colour scheme all together!!! 

I chose to go down the path of the 'Narcissa Malfoy' trend. Now, if you haven't watched Hazza Pothead (Harry Potter) then we cannot be friends... Ha. This is where the hair trend came from, Draco Malfoy's mother. In short, it's dark hair on top and bleached hair underneath. 

I am an alternative gal and I couldn't just do standard brown hair, I would be doing myself a serious injustice. Ha. 

So, I had that done, I loved it, it turned out perfectly, no colour bleeding, I had around 3 inches off the length (not to be dramatic but I felt like I had been scalped) and I was super happy. 

Fast forward to my hack and life saver. 

So, if any of you are blonde, you will know, bleached hair needs toning. To get the desired tone and get rid of he brassiness, your hair will 100% need this. 

I at home, washed my hair for the first time since having it done and mixed a toner with 1.9% developer. I used a toner recommended to me but it turns out it shouldn't be used as at toner but as a colour... Whether that is correct or not I am not sure. Either way my soul was about to leave my body. 

I mixed the toner up, applied it to the blonde and within minutes my hair has turned ultraviolet on the roots and grey/green mid-lengths and ends. I was almost sick in my mouth. I knew toners developed quickly but that was having a pure bubble bath. It looked horrid. It would of looked fine if I had an all over bleach but with the warm brown against the cool blonde, I hated it.

It was sooo grey/purple/blue when dry... I put more toner 
on at this point to try and even it out, *covers eyes*.

I washed it with Head and Shoulders (not the brown) and Fairy Liquid... Wouldn't budge. I washed my hair a total of around 3/4 times that day... Any more and it would start to damage my hair. 

Look at the grey/purple tones. 

I was freaking out that I couldn't go out in public, nobody was answering their phone to help. So, I took it upon myself to try one off the cuff thing that I had left as an option...

LEMON AND CONDITIONER!!! 

Yes, you read correctly. Lemon has natural bleaching properties and can lighten hair. Mixed with conditioner, it shouldn't damage the hair. 

So I cut 2 whole lemons squeezed all the juice into a bowl, then mixed with conditioner. I did 1:1 ratio (50% lemon juice and 50% conditioner). 

I applied to all of the blonde hair and left it on for 1hr and 30 mins. 

Now, I didn't do a patch test, I didn't have time, I read afterwards, you're meant to. 

At the time I didn't even think to do one because it's just lemon juice right?

 Well, turns out my skin did not like this concoction and I did actually react. Not on the scalp but on the skin around the back of my neck, ears and hairline. I am really sensitive anyway but I never have problems with scalp bleach, I mean,  I suppose I am sticking acid on my skin. Go figure. Not everyone has this happen though FYI. 

I washed it off my hair and goodbye blue/grey. It was gone. I was left with the blonde I kind of had to start off with. I was so happy. My hair wasn't damaged, no split ends, no candy floss. It was like it never happened. 

I hope if this ever happens to you and you come across this post, that it helps you and works for you too. It was literally a lifesaver for me and my hair.

I hope y'all doing okay!!! The weather has been mighty fine recently which has helped a hella lot with this whole lockdown malarkey. I am super bored of all of this now but I am trying to keep off social media and from watching the news because it's all so negative.

I thought the fabric on this Grey and Gold Metalic Oversized Loungewear Set  would be scratchy as it appears to look so but it's really not, it's super soft and lightweight. 

This Grey and Gold Metalic Oversized Loungewear Set  is that cosy I am actually wearing it right now as I type. I feel dressed up even though I am not. 

This is definitely one to add to your collection fo'sure. 

Black Long Sleeve Boxy Cuffed Joggers Loungewear Set - Amor

This Black Long Sleeve Boxy Cuffed Joggers Loungewear Set  is another super cute piece. 

I love the long sleeved sets as it's Spring which means it's still on the cooler side at times and this is perfect for those cosy nights in watching Netflix, eating junk. 

The Black Long Sleeve Boxy Cuffed Joggers Loungewear Set  is also soft to touch, it's kind of silky and isn't a wishy-washy black, it's a deep black. 

The Black Long Sleeve Boxy Cuffed Joggers Loungewear Set  is a lovely fit although, I got a size 8 and it's a little looser on the waist, which in some ways is a blessing, especially if you have a food baby going on. Ha. 

All I am doing at the moment is bloody eating, these are welcomed.

I do love a jogger. There is something so comforting about them. 

These Stone Contrast Drawstring Cuffed Joggers  are no exception. They fit perfectly, I LOVE the drawstring element too because you can cinch them in at the waste. 

What I also love about these Stone Contrast Drawstring Cuffed Joggers  is that they are long in the leg which is a god send for us ladies that struggle with this. They are slightly oversized too which is amazing. 

The Stone Contrast Drawstring Cuffed Joggers  can be paired with a lot of things, you can dress them up or down. Crop top, oversized t-shirt, a hoodie or cropped jumper.

Silver Glitter Sparkly Cropped Hoodie - Nicky

I am obsessed with this little Silver Glitter Sparkly Cropped Hoodie . I mean commmmeeee on how cute is this little number?!!! 

I am loving this so much!! I haven't seen a Silver Glitter Sparkly Cropped Hoodie like this around at all. I saw this and HAD TO have it, anything glittery or shiny and I am all for it. 

Again, I thought this Silver Glitter Sparkly Cropped Hoodie would be scratchy inside which I was dreading but YAY it wasn't at all. I haven't had chance to wear this out obviously but it's lightweight so it's going to be perfect for the summer when we are let out of our cages.

I got this in a size 8 and it fits perfectly.

So, I didn't expect to be writing something as crazy like this... I mean come on it's like we are living in a movie at the moment... 2012 to be exact. 

What is going on with this world man, it's gone all apocalyptic on us!! Coronavirus has sent the world into overdrive and I am on this crazy train that I would like to get off now please. 

I have many theories on this whole 'Coronavirus' thing but that's for a different kind of discussion. 

We are all in the same boat, we are all in self-isolation and we are all struggling. I am starting to now, not going to lie. I hope everyone reading this is okay, that your mental health is almost intact and you haven't yet done a Britney... I have been close let me tell you. Ha.

As we cannot get to the shops, what better way to treat yourself whilst you're bored in the house, in the house bored... Okay, spent too much time on TikTok (follow me leyasaurus18). 

Black Ribbed Bardot Ruched Bodycon Mini Dress - Vada

You can never go wrong with a LBD - I can say it over and over again because it's true and this Black Ribbed Bardot Ruched Bodycon Mini Dress  is no different. 

It's definately true to its description, it's securely fitting, it gives you curves by clinging to the right parts of your body and it's adjustable in length. 

This  Black Ribbed Bardot Ruched Bodycon Mini Dress  is in a bardot style which I think is hella sexy, this is a must have basic that needs to be in your wardrobe for when you can go on that post lockdown night out!!! 

You can wear sassy heels with this  Black Ribbed Bardot Ruched Bodycon Mini Dress  or like I have, I have paired it was some punky style boots. 

There is no zip on this  Black Ribbed Bardot Ruched Bodycon Mini Dress  which means it's fabric is stretchy and easy to get on and off. 

The only little niggle for me with this  Black Ribbed Bardot Ruched Bodycon Mini Dress  is that the arms were a little too tight, nothing major at all but just something to point out. 

Blue Light Wash High Waisted Extreme Rip Knee Denim Jeans - Bayre

I love a ripped jean. You will rarely catch me in a standard jean, that's just plain! 

I love the finish to these Blue Light Wash High Waisted Extreme Rip Knee Denim Jeans I am not a fan of a dark jean really, they have to be either black or light blue. 

I also like how extreme the rip is on these Blue Light Wash High Waisted Extreme Rip Knee Denim Jeans . It's only on the one leg and I think that's enough. 

They are casual but at the same time quite retro looking. You could team these Blue Light Wash High Waisted Extreme Rip Knee Denim Jeans with a band tee tied into a crop, a cropped hoddie, an oversized jumper. The possibilities are endless. 

For me though, I wish these were a bit longer in the leg, they are just a little too short for my liking. Other than that they fit perfectly on the waist. 

White Newspaper Print Tie Front Crop Top - Calista 

How unique is this White Newspaper Print Tie Front Crop Top . As soon as something 'different' crops up (excuse the pun) I am there, it will automatically catch my eye. 

I haven't seen a White Newspaper Print Tie Front Crop Top like this on the market before. It's so cute man, it's great for the Spring/Summer and it has an 'edge.

The fabric on the White Newspaper Print Tie Front Crop Top is super soft, abelite it does make my hair go a little cray with static but it's so comfortable to wear. 

It's so versatile, you an wear it with jeans, like I have done or with high waisted faux leather trousers. Basically you can dress it up or down, just the little pick me up you need right now, correct?

  

Brown Black Long Sleeve Crop Jumper - Sienna

This Brown Black Long Sleeve Crop Jumper is perfect for Spring and for just chilling around the house because lets face it, that's where we will be stuck for the bloody majority of it.

But who cares right, when you can wear bomb ass clothes and take pictures whilst trying not to have a breakdown!! 

This Brown Black Long Sleeve Crop Jumper again is quite different to what's in the stores. It's simple yet affective in its appearance and it goes with most things. 

This Brown Black Long Sleeve Crop Jumper is super cosy and is slightly oversized, I got a size 8 and it fits perfectly. 

It's even better if you're wearing a cute bralette underneath as if you lift your arms up slightly, that will be revealed. 

Tan Organza Ruched Sleeve Button Up Top - Beyre

Sexy shirt, who dis? I LOVE the fabric of this Tan Organza Ruched Sleeve Button Up Top  it's sheer, which I didn't realise but it's super sexy. 

This Tan Organza Ruched Sleeve Button Up Top  is made of a super reflective material so it appears really shiny. It's in this golden champagne colour and is perfect for this season. 

If you are stuck at home with your SO then just strut up to him/her wearing just this Tan Organza Ruched Sleeve Button Up Top  and you are onto a winner ;) 

The only thing to look out for is that just under the arm on the sleeve it can be slightly scratchy. Not a major issue though.
